What is a Happy Cat?
A happy cat is a purring ball of fur, kneading claws in a soft blanket, rubbing faces on a catnip pillow.
A happy cat feels safe and secure, has a full belly and many toys to play with.
A happy cat trusts his or her people to take care of their needs, to always be there when they’re needed.
A happy cat has nontraditional toys: cardboard boxes, wadded up pieces of paper, milk bottle caps, paper bags…
A happy cat has cat tunnels, catnip mice, balls, feather toys…
A happy cat has soft bedding, pillows, stuffed animals to curl up with.
A happy cat’s person knows their favorite food and their favorite treats and is always willing to provide a warm lap to curl up on.
And… a happy cat parent will never be cold or lonely. There’s always someone waiting for a lap to curl up on, someone to snuggle with, someone to sing to.
Purrrrrrrr
Curious Lola
Lola knows how to open the cupboard under the kitchen sink
The cupboard where the trash can is kept
She stands up on her hind legs, grabs onto the top of the door frame, and slowly backs up until the door is fully open
Then she stands up again and ever so gently places her front paws on the top of the garbage can. She sniffs inside the cupboard and looks above and next to the garbage can.
After her inspection has been satisfactorily achieved she settles herself down a few feet away to keep an eye out
In and out of a dozing state while surveilling, she moves quickly and quietly whenever she hears a rustle coming from within the cupboard
She jumps up and hurries over to investigate, standing up once again to conduct her thorough inspection of the garbage can and area above and around
My Daisy
rawrr … rawrr …
Is she singing? … Looking for attention? … Maybe she’s trying to catch Lola’s attention so that she’ll play with her?
rawrr … rawrr …
Daisy’s meows echo from the upstairs landing where she is sitting, right at the top of the stairs, in the darkness, calling out.
She goes on for some time … until she gets bored? … someone comes to play? … Someone else yells at her?
This isn’t an unusual occurrence in our house, and usually it takes place in the middle of the night!
Do your cats sing?
